I finally got around to watching EXO’s showcase. I like them all now ahaha. It reminds me of the time I was first trying to learn all of Girls’ Generation. At least this time, the members are more distinct and easily recognizable. No one looks the same like when I couldn’t tell Yuri, Yoona, and Seohyun apart.
I really like it when all twelve of them are performing on stage, but I also get why they’re promoting separately. It’s a very smart strategic move on SME’s part. I wanna go to SMTown :(
I watched Chan Yeol and Kris’s rap stage and I like the song even more now. It would have been soo much better if Key had performed it with them, but then again, it is an EXO showcase so I’m okay with it.
I did notice that EXO-M tends to be a little quieter than the EXO-K counterpart. When they do interviews, it seems that Kris ends up picking up the questions for the members. I wonder if he’ll really punch them one day ahaha.
I don’t have a preference for EXO-K or EXO-M, but rather, I like them as EXO all together.

First and foremost, I feel proud. It is beyond words that it can’t be explained. I’ve been watching kpop long before (like when Big Bang’s Tae Yang still had long hair). It sounds cliche and still outlandish, but I really feel like I’ve watched them all grow, especially members like Tiffany, Seohyun, Sunny, and Yoona. They worked hard to get to where they are and it only seems natural that they would want to expand. Now, I just want to address some points.
Their live singing and dancing was on point.
I think the remix was actually decent. Despite what some people think, it doesn’t sound rushed to me. If you thought you could do it better for them, then you should have stepped up to the plate and made a suitable remix that is universally liked; stop your complaining. If you think you can compose better music or write better lyrics, then let that be a challenge to you. Until you get your name out there, I’ll just regard your taste in the remix as moot.
The stage isn’t originally big; trying to fit nine girls dancing on there is going to be a bit difficult. It’s not like they can tear the stage apart just to make room for them while they’re already recording. Get over it. The table was set for them; all they had to do was pick up their silverware and eat.
I read a comment that said she was proud of kpop spreading, but wasn’t necessarily too fond of Girls’ Generation because, according to her reasoning, there were other better girl groups out there. Now, you’re entitled to your opinion. I get that. But honestly, name those girls groups that are better…the only one I can really think of that could challenge them is f(x). In my sincerest opinion, no other girl groups can amount to the talent that the nine girls have. And it just might be because they have nine different talents, but those talents are still far superior if you want to compare the individual girls with another girl from another group. SME may train them like slaves, but they know how to train them properly and there’s a reason why even YGE said he would like to have his own girl group like Girls’ Generation. But anyways, every girl group will have their own charms. I just happen to like Girls’ Generation more than other girl groups. There’s no denying their talent. Just my personal opinion, so don’t get catty.
As far as debuting with The Boys as their American single, I don’t have a problem with it. Not everyone is going to like it, that’s already a given. I’m not expecting them to hit it big with the American fans, but I still wish the best for them. I personally like the track and compared to the music they’ve created in the past, it’s definitely more suitable to the American taste. Everyone is going to have different styles and I think this is just an evolved form foreshadowing where they are headed and what talents they can cultivate from such a learning experience. Even American artists need to start somewhere and not everyone is going to like them, and that goes for other foreign artists as well. Justin Bieber, for example, wasn’t always liked or popular, but he eventually made his way into the market. I’m in no way making an analogy with Girls’ Generation and Bieber, like apples are to oranges, but I just wanted to give an example where an artist makes their way into the American industry.
Am I staying up to watch their morning performance? Probably most likely.
